Faded Birthday Roses

The sun shining in through the kitchen window bounced off my stainless steel refrigerator, casting the most lovely light on my birthday roses. They're tired and dry, but I still see too much beauty in them to throw them into the compost pile just yet.

"Charm and nothing but charm at last grows a little tiresome. It's a relief then to deal with a man who isn't quite so delightful but a little more sincere." -- W. Somerset Maugham, (1875-1965) English novelist; The Painted Veil, 1925

What Color is Love?

“It is always the simple things that change our lives. And these things never happen when you are looking for them to happen. Life will reveal answers at the pace life wishes to do so. You feel like running, but life is on a stroll. This is how God does things.” -- Donald Miller

Backlit White Roses in the Rain Highlighted with a Reflector.

This is the parting shot for the class I have been enrolled in over the last 8 weeks. I struggle with white things, so I chose to make white roses my subject. Therefore -- here you have it. An image that addresses lots of hard stuff (for me anyway): Backlit White Roses in the Rain -- Highlighted with a Reflector.
Shelly > In the depth of winter, I finally learned that there lay within me an invincible summer.

Roses! I got Roses!
Shelly > May 29, 2007

I learned a new technique with lighting! It's kind of dramatic, isn't it? How fun! We'll have to play with this some more. This is the same pink rosebush outside the kitchen sink window where I followed a single rosebud every day through its entire cycle about 1 1/2 years ago. It's posted on my site under flowers, and I still like to go back and look at it.
