Softballs

For some reason they remind me of grapefruits flying through the air.  I did a similar picture to this last year with baseballs and its still a favorite.  

So . . . Why are softballs yellow now?  I think they were white when I was a kid -- but I couldn't have caught them regardless of the color anyway.
