Shelly > February 6, 2009 Grasping at Straws Oh my I love what I do. A $1.98 bag of colored straws -- legitimate business expense -- and time to work in my west studio. La Ti Da! That's right . . . I have two studios. The main studio is my son's old bedroom which is truly if slowly being converted to a functional studio. The west studio receieves the most wonderful natural south and west light, and it even doubles as a kitchen. Talk about multi-functional! Shelly > October 20, 2008 Bottle Tree and a Purple Sky This bottle tree stands in the middle of my mother's amazing vegetable garden. In the early African American Culture I believe they used blue glass bottles to ward of bad spirits. This one is just for the colorful impact. It was so much fun to photograph too. In this particular image, the sky blew out so I just played with the selective coloring on the white sky. It looked pretty cool in red as well. Maybe I should consider a tryptich or quad composition.
Shelly > September 5, 2008 Color Wheel Whoosh . . . Been so busy that I never even got around to picking up the crayons after I spilled them on the floor last week . . . much less posting any new dailies. At least they provided quick inspiration so that the folks who check my pics on a regular basis would know that I am still kicking. (Hi Mom) So, am I wierd or does anyone else who loves colors play this little game with crayons too? I sort of miss some of the old standard blended colors. The new ones have different tones and hues that just don't easily fit into a wheel like the ones from the olden days. And I have still never figured out how to incorporate all the browns, grays, blacks and white into this.
