Scene from a wedding. Red Shoes are for Traveling . . . Green Shoes are for . . .

This is the program cover for tonight's home-field season opener. HOMECOMING! So far, we've visited other stadiums for every game.
I get to work with an amazing group of volunteers and kids to put these programs together as fundraisers for athletic programs throughout our school. With advertising support from the parents and business community, last year's issues were about 1/2" thick. I hear that they're even bigger this year.
So proud of everyone involved. We won a NATIONAL award last year.

Young Love - Autumn Love
Cute couple. What they didn't know is that "Old Love" (Mike and I) followed them for about a block or so to get this. I knew it would be a keeper.
I've been TERRIBLE about posting or commenting on dailies. Going to try to get back into the swing of things though.

Breathe -- Just Breathe
At least that's what I keep telling myself. Why does the time fly by faster than the things you need to finish before it's done?

Senior Year
This is my last year as a band mom -- or any other kind of school mom for that matter. I'm so proud of all of our boys. This is our youngest, Dustin, on the field at last week's football game.

“This year is senior year and with senior year comes all that sort of angst and anxiety, all that sort of epic teen drama - who am I, where am I going, what's gonna happen to us, ... It's going to call everyone's identity into question and throw the show back on the family.” -- Josh Schwartz

Joni's Clouds
I LOVED that song when I was these girls' age.
Ive looked at life from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
Its lifes illusions I recall
I really dont know life at all

God Love 'Em! -- Covenant House -- Providing shelter for at risk children and youth.
I wish I could share some of the beautiful faces I captured this morning -- but that's for another day. Instead, here's a poem by one of their residents. (Learn more at covenanthousetx.org)
Finding My Feet
Still have street dust in my shoes,
laces busted three times,
knotted so they'll tie,
holes in my soles.
Sitting here at the Covenant
in a roomful of shoes -
job search shoes -
none of them are me.
Peel off my socks,
smell the street,
see my funny
long toes
Feel like I
am going
nowhere.
My feet turn up their noses
at these black and brown shoes.
Won't fit; look stupid, get scuffed
hitting the pavement, looking around.
My big feet want to hide like
naughty little boys who
don't want to grow up.
Slip a big toe into one,
trying to tease my feet.
Who goes there? Not me.
I feel like I'm clunking around
in Daddy's big old shoes and I don't
want to be like him; but who then?
Just me trying
to find my
feet.
