Old Cities Have Old Doors
So I added some to my collection.
"I adore simple pleasures. They are the last refuge of the complex." -- Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray, (1854 - 1900)

Mi Tierra Never Closes
This famous restaurant has been serving up Tex-Mex dishes for locals and visitors since 1941. No trip to the city would be complete without at least one Mi Tierra meal. For us, it was breakfast underneath this famous mural.

What a way to kick off a new year -- a new decade. This day finds us in San Antonio for the Alamo Bowl football game between Texas Tech and Michigan State. But first, a walk by the river and lunch at Casa Rio.

Lovin the Sunshine
Fun fun family session while the McLaughlin kids were home from college. Laughing and playing the whole time.
DIG those orange shoes! What a hoot.

Silent Night - Holy Night
O come, O come, Emmanuel,
And ransom captive Israel,
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear.

Faded Birthday Roses
The sun shining in through the kitchen window bounced off my stainless steel refrigerator, casting the most lovely light on my birthday roses. They're tired and dry, but I still see too much beauty in them to throw them into the compost pile just yet.
"Charm and nothing but charm at last grows a little tiresome. It's a relief then to deal with a man who isn't quite so delightful but a little more sincere." -- W. Somerset Maugham, (1875-1965) English novelist; The Painted Veil, 1925

HISTORY!
This is only the second time it has snowed in Houston since we moved here in 1999. Last time it was on Christmas day and we were out of town.
I'm so excited I can't focus on anything. Just want to watch it come down. Want to play. Want to throw snowballs!
"The aging process has you firmly in its grasp if you never get the urge to throw a snowball."
Doug Larson

Dignity
Brannigan has been in the news from home lately. He's the Ninja-cat that raided our Thanksgiving appetizer platter and got into the leftovers on Thursday, and he's the daredevil who ate a poinsettia on Monday. None the worse for wear, he's thrilled with the new arrangement of our furniture. Now HIS chair is in a big window.
By the way, we've increased the frequency of his canned-food rations. He's 11 years old. He deserves it.
Happy Cat!
"Be mild with the mild, shrewd with the crafty, confiding to the honest, rough to the ruffian, and a thunderbolt to the liar. But in all this, never be unmindful of your own dignity." -- John Brown

One From the Archives
Doing a little bit of computer cleanup, I came across this shot from 2005. I still like it.
