Faded Birthday Roses
The sun shining in through the kitchen window bounced off my stainless steel refrigerator, casting the most lovely light on my birthday roses. They're tired and dry, but I still see too much beauty in them to throw them into the compost pile just yet.
"Charm and nothing but charm at last grows a little tiresome. It's a relief then to deal with a man who isn't quite so delightful but a little more sincere." -- W. Somerset Maugham, (1875-1965) English novelist; The Painted Veil, 1925
