Candles and batteries, and then we filled plastic containers with water to put into the frezer and keep our food cold in case of a power outage.
Fill the bathtub Bring a mattress downstairs in case we need to hide under it. Remove all possible projectiles from the yard. I think we're as ready as we'll ever be.

I absolutely love my old weathered fence, and if the tree hadn't fallen on it I think it might still be there.
The trellis by my kitchen window will need a little bit of reconstruction. It provides such nice shade in the early evening, but I may need to cook in sunglasses for the next few weeks. October is one of the two worst months for direct sun in this window.
Mike and Ian estimate the size of the holes in our roof.
It rained in four rooms of our house Sunday morning, and seeped into a fifth. Not a pleasant mess but so much less than others faced.
One of our neighbors had a tornado theory based upon a line of broken trees . . . and our roof was pretty much in that line.
